UCL Eastman CPD Launches New Hands-on Course in Dental Microscopy

UCL Eastman CPD, in association with Zeiss Microscopes and NuView, are pleased to offer an innovative course in Dental Microscopy. The aim of the programme is to help dental professionals smoothly incorporate microscopy into the clinical setting, demonstrating immediate improvements to patient communication, team-working and the quality of dental care whilst decreasing back and eye strain.

Through a series of lectures and seminars as well as skills laboratory procedures, the course will be delivered by experienced dental specialists in prosthodontics and endodontics who have been using microscopy for many years in a wide range of challenging and demanding clinical situations.

Throughout the course, you will use the latest operating microscopes and learn to:
• Improve operator ergonomics to decrease fatigue
• Use shadowless lighting to aid diagnosis and treatment
• Identify elusive cracks and obscure root canals
• Improve patient communication and build patient trust
• Enhance patient care and improve manual dexterity
• Create effective teamwork and enhance assistant interest and involvement
• Refine clinical techniques under the guidance of experienced specialists
• Set up the operating microscope for optimum performance.

The course will introduce participants to the use of operating microscopes. In addition to theoretical training, participants will spend time becoming accustomed to working with and using microscopes to examine teeth under magnification.

Practical training will also take place in a clinical setting. Participants will also be able to carry out clinical procedures in a skills laboratory such as cavity preparation, crown preparation and endodontic canal location.

Course dates - The next scheduled courses are:-

Friday 1st June or Saturday 2nd June 2012

Friday 7th December and Saturday 8th December 2012
