What is Continu?
Continu is a water-based sanitisation solution that is much safer
and more environmentally friendly than traditional alcohol or
bleach based disinfection products.

How has Continu been tested?
Continu has been independently tested and significantly exceeds the
requirements of British Standards EN 1276 and EN 1650.

How effective is Continu?
Continu kills more than 99.999% of harmful microorganisms in less
than 30 seconds.

Why is 99.999% important?
If a contaminated surface contained 1,000,000 microorganisms,
then there would be 10,000 remaining after applying a disinfectant
killing to 99% (log factor 2) and a solution effective to 99.9% (log
factor 3) would leave 1,000, meaning there were still enough cells
to repopulate. By achieving a log factor 5 reduction (99.999%)
Continu ensures that no viable colony remains.

Why is 30 seconds important?
Because Continu is fast acting, harmful microorganisms are killed almost
as soon as the product is applied and do not have time to recover.
Sanitisers requiring longer contact times have often evaporated or been
wiped away before they have had time to be effective.

Is Continu CE Marked?
If the intended purpose of a disinfectant is for use as an accessory
to a medical device it is subject to the Medical Devices Directive so
our Instrument and Equipment Cleaning Products carry a CE Mark.
If the product is intended for surface cleaning or general hand
sanitisation, it falls under the Biocidal Products Directive (European
Directive 98/8/EC) (BPD) so our hand and surface sanitisers do not
carry a CE Mark in accordance with European Legislation.

Is Continu HTM 01-05 Compliant?
The Continu range has been developed to meet HTM 01-05
legislation from its alcohol free ingredients to wall mounted touch
free hand sanitisers and compliant solutions for disinfecting water
lines and dental impressions.

Is Continu safe on my skin?
As Continu has the same chemical hazard rating as water it is very
safe, and most users report that their skin stays soft even with
frequent use.

Does Continu damage surfaces?
No. Even fabrics, leather, plastics and wood can all safely be treated
with Continu. Conversely, disinfectants like bleach, alcohol, acid
or solvent based solutions all cause long term damage through a
process called micro-cracking which not only reduces the working
life of the asset but creates the perfect environment for harmful
microorganisms.

Is Continu environmentally friendly?
Yes. The technology behind Continu allows the chemicals to be
effective even with low levels of active ingredients, which is why it
has the same hazard rating as water. There are no special disposal
requirements and containers can be recycled.
